What You Need to Know
Nervous system dysregulation occurs when your body stays stuck in fight, flight, or freeze long after danger has passed. Signs include chronic anxiety, insomnia, emotional numbness, digestive issues, and difficulty relaxing. RER (Rapid Emotional Reset) is a body-based therapy that helps your nervous system return to balance without requiring you to talk about traumatic experiences. Sessions available in Springvale, Middle Park, Seaford and online.
Your Nervous System Has Three Main States
Understanding these helps make sense of what you’ve been feeling:

Safe & Social
You feel calm, connected, and able to think clearly. Your breathing is steady, your muscles relaxed, and you can engage with the world around you. This is your ‘home base.’

Fight or Flight
Your heart races, muscles tense, breathing speeds up. You feel anxious, irritable, on high alert. Your body is preparing to respond to danger — even when none is present.

Freeze / Shutdown
You feel numb, disconnected, exhausted. You may dissociate or feel unable to move or act. This is your body’s ‘last resort’ protection — like playing dead when escape isn’t possible.
A healthy nervous system moves between these states as needed. Trauma disrupts this flexibility — and that’s where RER can help.
Signs Your Nervous System Needs Support
You might experience some or many of these:
• Racing heart or palpitations
• Chronic muscle tension
• Difficulty falling or staying asleep
• Restlessness, can’t sit still
• Irritability or anger outbursts
• Racing thoughts
• Digestive problems
• Feeling “wired” or unable to relax
• Feeling numb or emotionally flat
• Chronic fatigue despite rest
• Disconnection from your body
• Difficulty making decisions
• Social withdrawal
• Brain fog or poor concentration
• Feeling “stuck” or unable to act
• Depersonalisation or derealisation
If you recognise yourself in these lists, your nervous system may be holding onto unresolved trauma. RER can help it reset.

How RER Helps Your Nervous System Regulate
RER works directly with your body’s stress responses. Rather than talking about why your nervous system is dysregulated, we work with what it’s doing right now — in the present moment.
Through guided body awareness, RER helps your nervous system complete interrupted stress responses. This is what allows your body to shift out of fight, flight, or freeze and return to a state of calm and safety.
Most clients feel a noticeable shift within 1–3 sessions. The effect is cumulative — each session builds on the last, helping your nervous system re-establish its natural flexibility.
What a Nervous System Session Involves
Understanding Your Patterns
Nev will help you identify which nervous system states you spend the most time in — activation, shutdown, or flipping between the two. This isn’t about labelling; it’s about understanding.
Guided Release
Using body-based techniques, RER helps your nervous system discharge stored tension and return to balance. You don’t need to talk about what caused the dysregulation.
Building Resilience
As sessions progress, you’ll likely find it easier to recognise your nervous system states and return to calm more quickly. This is the foundation of lasting regulation.

I’d spent years in talk therapy understanding why I was anxious, but I was still anxious. RER was the first thing that actually changed how my body felt. After two sessions, I could finally sleep through the night. My partner noticed the difference before I did.
